Coach Begley Training Programs

One of the best attributes of running is that anyone can do it. People of all ages, ethnicities, shapes, and sizes can have success in the sport. Another positive is that improvement and successes are easily measured.

There are many different methods for success. There are hundreds of books and training groups available, and most of them have a lot of success. This is due to the fact that running is a simple sport, and most people seeking this type of support are new runners. New runners will make major improvements just because they are running. As athletes improve, it becomes more important to have coaching that is right for them. The best runners have coaches that individualize the work that they do, and communicate on a regular basis to maximize performance.

This is not the type of coaching that we offer. We do not offer cookie-cutter programs. If we did, our program would be no better than the books and programs that are already out there. Our program might be the best for some people, but it would be wrong for others.

That is why we have decided to offer only one type of coaching. As coaches, we want to be involved in success. We believe that successful runners have coaches that work one-on-one with the athletes, and that is what we provide. With our program, athletes will receive a weekly training plan. At the end of the week, athletes will be required to send an email with feedback to the coaches, and after that happens, the next workouts will be sent. Coaches will also be available throughout the week to offer feedback. Due to the individualized attention that we provide to our athletes, we will only coach a limited number of athletes. Once we reach our limit, athletes will be placed on a waiting list for coaching.

Amy Yoder Begley

Amy is a professional athlete. She trains full-time in Beaverton, Oregon. Amy will be the primary coach for all athletes. Amy is a 6-time US Champion and a 2008 Olympian. Amy has had success in every event from the 800 (2:08) to the half marathon (1:10:09).

Amy was a 15-time All-American at the University of Arkansas. She has qualified for four Olympic Trials (2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012). As a prep, Amy was a 4-time Indiana state champion and was 2nd at the Footlocker National Championships.


Andrew Begley

Andrew currently coaches one of the top high school distance programs in Oregon. He also coaches a small group of professional women. The group includes Amy Begley (2008 Olympian) and Bianca Martin (US 1500/mile qualifier). Andrew is also a teacher at the School of Science & Technology in Beaverton, Oregon.

Andrew was an All-American runner during his college career at the University of Arkansas. He was a member of 9 NCAA National Championship teams. He qualified for the 2000 Olympic Trials in the 10,000 meters (he finished 16th place). As a prep, Andrew was a 4-time Indiana state champion and was 4th at the Footlocker National Championships.



3 months: $325

Fees include an initial consultation phone call, weekly training plans (for 3 months), and up to 2 emails per week for feedback and questions. Any extra email contact or phone contact will be billed at an hourly rate of $100.00 per hour.

"I met Andrew 5 years ago in Atlanta. We were assistant high school track coaches together. While out on a run he convinced me to really start training for marathons. As a former collegiate runner, I had given up doing hard workouts. I was logging a lot of long slow miles.

When I started training under Andrew my marathon PR was 3:28. After 6 months of hard training, I ran a 3:14. Since then I have run a 3:16 (that was the year I "fell off the training wagon") and this year I PR'd with a 3:08, in less than desirable marathon conditions.

I believe 100% in Andrew's training methods. He understands female runners in a way most male coaches cannot or do not. His workouts are tough. If you are willing to push your will reap huge rewards training under Andrew."
